Happy Birthday Jesus & Reyah!
This Christmas season was a lot different than it usually is. My sister's due date was December 23rd. We knew that Reyah was going to be born at any day. So, as the 23rd came and Jordan's contractions began. We all geared up in anticipation for that sweet little baby. We spent all day walking, and doing things to push Jordan farther into labor.
As the night came, I decided to stay the night at her house and help her through contractions with my brother in law as they started to grow more intense. The night was long and nobody slept. The morning of the 24th came and we felt like she had to have been coming soon. We were all growing more tired, but especially my sister who had been in labor for over 24 hours at that point. The day came, and the Christmas Eve celebrations commenced. We tried to take Jordan's mind off it with our Christmas Eve family traditions of pizza and conolis, but nothing was working. The contractions were getting closer together and definitely more intense. For anyone who has been there for a loved one's labor- you know how much it sucks to see someone you love so much in so much pain. However; the excitement and joy I felt for my sister and her husband to finally meet their baby definitely overshadowed any sleep deprivation I had. That night, I stayed with them again. As my sister was sitting in the bath trying to ease her contraction pain, at the hour of 2:15 AM, it was time to go. She was on her way.
We rushed over to pick up mom, let the rest of the family know and then we were on our way to the birth center. After hours of laboring and pushing, my sweet niece came into the world on Christmas morning at 9:05 AM! I've never been so joyful.
My sweet sister had a completely natural labor without any drugs, and that was the most incredible thing I've ever seen. Her strength and grit is something I so admire. I hope to one day be able to do what she did.
My sister and brother in law have been through a lot with their pregnancies, and have a few little angel babies in heaven. It brought me so much joy to see them become parents and even more so that she shares a birthday with our Lord and Savior!
God is so good.
